1ST SUMMIT BANK is proud to announce that it has been named one of the “Best Banks to Work For” in the United States by American Banker and Best Companies Group. This is the ninth year in a row that 1ST SUMMIT BANK has been named to this prestigious list.
The Best Banks to Work For program, which began in 2013, recognizes and honors U.S. banks for outstanding employee satisfaction and overall culture. This year, 90 banks earned a spot in the rankings based on anonymous surveys and a thorough review of the benefits and perks offered.
“To once again be named a ‘best bank to work for’ in the country is a remarkable honor,” said Eric Renner, CEO and President. “Our organization has both great employees and terrific customers who have been very loyal to us over the years. It is a part of guiding beliefs and principles to look out for our employees. We are all a part of a team, and it is my belief that when our employees wake up on Monday mornings, they enjoy coming to work.”
American Banker highlighted the bank’s ability to empower its employees and trust that they will do their jobs well. 1ST SUMMIT BANK will then regularly recognize its employees – not only for individual accomplishments – but for how their hard work positively impacts the organization as a whole.

Determining the “Best Banks to Work For” involved a two-step process. The first consisted of evaluating each participating bank’s workplace policies, practices, and demographics. This part of the process was worth approximately 25% of the total evaluation. The second consisted of employee surveys aimed at assessing the experiences and attitudes of individual employees with respect to their workplace. This part of the process was worth approximately 75% of the total evaluation. The combined scores determined the final ranking.
